Mini Society has begun the process of being turned over to the students. This will be a slow process. Today they voted on the president and vice president. They will be announced next week. We also voted on the flag! I am so pleased with the effort each student made! They all looked great! I am pleased to present to you the flag for The Lost City of New Hope!

/Mini Society Week of 9/29

Dear Parents,

We’ve had an exciting few weeks in our Mini Society, and I wanted to share some updates with you about all that has been happening!

Our students have officially named their city The Lost City of New Hope. After thoughtful discussion, they also voted on their form of government. They chose a democracy, which means they will elect a president. The president will not have extra powers but will instead guide decision-making by holding votes, with the majority ruling on each issue. This ensures that every voice in society matters.

We also began the process of creating our Constitution. To start, students brainstormed possible rules and discussed what values they wanted their society to reflect. After some deep conversations, they selected the following guiding values: Honesty, Respect, Compassion, Safety, and Fairness. These values will shape their laws and decision-making as we continue to develop their society.
