Mini Society week of 11/17
Mini Society Weekly Update
This week in Mini Society, we focused on identifying the jobs our new community will need to run smoothly. Students discussed the responsibilities of each position and the qualities they believe are important for success in these roles.
Jobs We Have Established So Far
Banker
Assistant Banker
Pay Masters (3–4)
Set-Up Crew (2–3)
Clean-Up Crew (2–3)
Police Officers (2)
Money Cutter
Students did a great job thinking through what skills and character traits each job requires, such as responsibility, honesty, teamwork, leadership, and even basic math skills for certain positions.
Homework for This Week
Students should think of at least two interview questions they would ask someone applying for one of these jobs.
For example:
“How comfortable are you with basic math?” (for Banker)
“How would you solve a disagreement between classmates?” (for Police)
“How do you stay organized when you have a job to do?”
They should be prepared to share their questions during next week’s class discussion.
Money Design Reminder
Next week is the final week to submit money design ideas for our Moonstones! If students want to use the template in a design program, they may, but the size of the money must remain the same.
Coming Up Next Week
We will:
Pass out job applications
Review job descriptions
Vote on Money design
After Thanksgiving Break
When we return from break, students will officially begin interviewing for their jobs! This is always one of the most exciting parts of Mini Society, and it gives students great practice in communication, confidence, and responsibility.
